The Proper Way to Breathe to Stay Healthy.

nose.jpgDid you know that if you breathe air through your mouth, you are more prone to get sick? The simple fact is that there's less filtration of the air going into your lungs if you breathe it through your mouth rather than breathing it through your nose.

Unfortunately, you usually can not see all the harmful "stuff" that floats in the air that you breathe. Fortunately though, there's a way to lessen the likeliness of getting sick by these microscopic airborne particles just by adjusting the way you breathe!

So without further delay, here is the proper way to breathe:

1) When you inhale, allow most (if not all) of the air to pass through your nostrils (or the orifices of your nose).

2) When you exhale, allow most (if not all) of the air to pass through your mouth.

Tips: When you cough or sneeze, try to apply this technique if possible. Sometimes, it may be hard to apply this technique especially while your nose is stuffed. Getting up and walking around (or sitting up straight) sometimes helps to thin out your mucus so that you can blow your nose. When we laugh, we often helplessly breathe air through our mouths, so be careful.

It takes practice, but through time, you will be glad you learned the proper way to breathe.
